How to Nail a Job interview

Autumn is here and that means employers are looking to hire. Knowing the company you plan to apply to and doing your research will increase your odds of getting into the career you’re looking for with your new degree. Here are a few tips to make you stand out in a crowd.

Prove yourself to the employer. Look them up and find out what they are all about.  Company and industry research  is critical to you job interview. Find out about the companies history, financial status, products and services plus its culture, core values and mission statement. This is the kind of information that is bound to impress an interviewer and give you a head start in the process. Ask your friends if anyone they know works for the company and talk to them.  This research has the added benefit of letting you know what you’re getting yourself into, and that you will be comfortable interviewing for a role in this company. Try and relate with the offered position and show them you are a perfect fit for the job. During the interview make sure you also let them know that you plan to be with them for awhile and that their investment in you will not be wasted, and that that this isn’t just a job for you but a chance to carve out a career, in the company, for yourself. Tell them you are actually looking for a mentor to help you climb the corporate ladder. Be knowledgeable about the position that you are applying for, impress who you are talking to and that will take you far.
