5 Things you need to do before starting your graduate job

The moment has finally come, you’re packing up your room at University and soon to begin your first professional job role. Everything you have been working for over the last few years is paying off and you can’t wait to sink your teeth into the world of work! Before you do, here are 5 Things you need to do before starting your graduate job:

Cherish your lie-in

Ah the lie-in. I remember when I was a student having these almost on a daily basis, now I’m lucky if I manage to grab one on a Sunday morning with by body clock being constantly set to 6.45am! Take this time before your new job to relish those lazy mornings, sit on your sofa in your pyjamas  you’ll look back and wish you did otherwise.

Use your student discount

One of the best perks of being a student HAS to be the student discount card! Make the most of it before it expires (as long as it doesn’t plunge you back into your overdraft anyway!).

Take a break

Forget 3 months of the year off, soon you will only have around 4 weeks to take throughout the whole year! Not only that but you’ll probably be fighting with your colleagues for time off in those all important summer and Christmas weeks! Got some time before your job starts? Try and take a break – it could be camping in the Lake District or sunbathing in Lake Como! Try and relish having the spare time before you are tied to the 9-5! Go shopping

Not just an excuse to use your student discount card! If you have an office job lined up chances are you will need to update your wardrobe – swap onesies and trainers for suits and brogues! You don’t have to spend a fortune but it will give you confidence you need to move from the classroom to the boardroom!

Go out on a weeknight

This one will become near impossible when you start the 9-5 so go out with a bang and get yourself in a nightclub on a Wednesday!
